RealNetworks is looking to drive download transactions at its RealPlayer Music Store with a sale connected to Rolling Stone magazine's "Rolling Stone 500" issue, which names the greatest rock'n'roll songs of all time.

Real -- which provides back-end operations for rollingstone.com -- is offering all the songs on the magazine's list for 79 cents each. Details of the monthlong promotion can be found at www.real.com/rs500.

RealNetworks' Rhapsody subscription service is also jumping on the bandwagon, by creating a special radio channel commemorating the list. Its new "Rolling Stone 500 Radio" station will feature every song on the list. Consumers can hear the tracks for free by registering for a 14-day trial of the service.
