Label debut due in February.

New West Records has signed hipster singer/songwriter Ben Lee.

A new album, "Awake Is the New Sleep," is due Feb. 22. It was produced by Brad Wood, who also helmed Lee's first two albums, 1994's "Grandpaw Would" and 1997's "Something to Remember Me By," both released on Grand Royal. The new set features guests Jason Schwartzman, Har Mar Superstar, Rilo Kiley's Jenny Lewis and Jason Falkner.

Lee -- who also had an album on Capitol in 1999 and on F-2 Music last year -- is managed by David Leinheardt of Big Hassle Management.

New West, with offices in L.A. and Austin, Texas, is distributed by RED. Its roster includes Delbert McClinton, John Hiatt, Tim Easton, Vic Chesnutt, Drive-By Truckers, Old 97's and Dwight Yoakam.
