College students who have school-sponsored digital music subscriptions through Cdigix -- an on-campus streaming and downloading solution used by Purdue and 11 other universities -- can now roll over their accounts to Virgin Digital when they graduate.

Both Englewood, Colo.-based Cdigix and Virgin Digital feature music supplied through MusicNet, a digital distribution services specialist.

The program, set to bow in April, protects students from losing the legal content libraries they've amassed while at school.

Subsidized Cdigix accounts, which range in price from no charge to $3 per month depending on the school, are replaced with Virgin Digital subscription fees of $7.99 per month.
