Clear Channel Entertainment Television has partnered with Simmons Lathan Media Group (co-founded by hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons) to produce a TV and DVD series of music and fashion events, Billboard.biz has learned. Titled "Def on Demand Live," the TV series is expected to be distributed through video-on-demand services starting next year.

The two-year agreement calls for "Def on Demand Live" to have about 12 events per year. A spokesperson for the show says most of the music events will focus on R&B/hip-hop.

CCETV has produced select programming for A&E's "Biography" series, including a 2004 episode on Rod Stewart. Simmons Lathan Media Group, which Simmons founded with his "Def Comedy Jam" partner Stan Lathan, specializes in urban/hip-hop programming. Simmons Lathan already has a "Def on Demand" series that offers feature films, documentaries and music videos. The new venture with CCETV will be for live entertainment programs.
