The 2005 Midem conference, set for Jan. 23-27 in Cannes, will for the first time feature an event focusing on the live music sector. The Live Music Network, organized in partnership with the Music Managers Forum, will take place Jan. 26.

Midem director Dominique Leguern says the daylong event will gather key players to discuss issues central to the live business. "What we also want to do is to put together the live music industry with technology companies that can provide new streams of revenues," Leguern says.

There will be two panels: "Live Music & Media Exploitation -- Update on Opportunities in 2005," which will focus on new business opportunities, and "Changing Roles in Live Music 2005," which will examine relationships between the various players in the field.

Confirmed panelists include Peter Grosslight, William Morris Agency worldwide head of music; Tony Wadsworth, EMI Music U.K. & Ireland chairman/CEO; Peter Schwenkow, Deutsche Entertainment director; and Tim Clark, a principal in management firm IE Music.
