The FleetCenter, the 20,000-seat Boston arena, will continue to operate under the FleetCenter name and logo until owners Delaware North Cos. have secured a new naming-rights partner or through Oct. 14, 2005, whichever comes first.

The deal follows the merger April 1 of the Bank of America Corp. and the FleetBoston Financial Corp., in which Bank of America assumed the contract for the exclusive naming rights to the FleetCenter.

FleetCenter is annually one of the top-grossing arenas in the world. The arena finished 10th this year among large-capacity arenas, with music event grosses topping $25 million, despite the arena being out of commission for more than a month last summer hosting the Democratic National Convention.
