Robbie Williams' "Greatest Hits" (Chrysalis) goes into the new year with its seventh week at No. 1 on Top 100 Albums. U2's "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb" (Universal Island) and Eminem's "Encore" (Interscope) hold at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
Williams keeps the European chart crown despite a 1-9 drop in his native United Kingdom. Replacing him at No. 1 there is Green Day's "American Idiot" (Reprise), which leaps up from No. 13 despite a 58% sales decline from last week. "Idiot" also jumps 18-4 on Top 100 Albums, on the back of gains in Norway (30-5), Denmark (25-5) and Ireland (8-5).
Britney Spears' "Greatest Hits: My Prerogative" (Jive) jumps 14-8 on Top 100 Albums, after dipping below the top 10 for the past two weeks. The compilation is on the rise again in Finland (8-2), Denmark (6-2), Ireland (6-3), Italy (11-9) and the United Kingdom (20-12).
French pop-rock quartet Kyo's "300 Lesions" (Ariola) is the highest newcomer on Top 100 Albums, debuting at No. 13. The album starts at No. 1 in France and No. 2 in Switzerland.
The debut set by 25-year-old German vocalist Annett Louisan climbs 30-15 on Top 100 Albums, after moving 6-3 in Germany, where the single "Das Spiel" is No. 10.
The Eurochart Hot 100 Singles chart sees Band Aid 20's "Do They Know It's Christmas" (Mercury) hold at No. 1 for a third week. The charity release went into the new year holding at No. 1 in Italy, Denmark and Ireland, although it fell from the top in the United Kingdom, Spain and Norway.
Kylie Minogue's "I Believe In You" (Parlophone) is its closest rival for the Eurochart leadership, up 3-2. "Believe" rebounds 4-3 in the United Kingdom and rises 7-4 in Austria and 14-7 in Spain.
"Against All Odds" (Syco Music/Sony BMG) by Steve Brookstein, winner of "the X Factor" talent series in the United Kingdom, rises 8-6 in its second Eurochart appearance after climbing 2-1 locally. Parisian singer/songwriter Papi Sanchez's "Enamorame" (Planet Records), which holds at No. 3 in France, climbs 13-10 on the Eurochart. The song was No. 8 for three weeks on the Eurochart in December.
