Five more home-video companies are getting on board with Mini-DVD. HBO Video, New Line Home Entertainment, Paramount Home Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and Universal Pictures will be issuing product in the new format this spring.

Mini-DVD officially launched in December with product solely from Warner Home Video and with a special portable player manufactured by CyberHome. The format will have a national rollout this March. Mini-DVDs are smaller than regular DVDs, though are also compatible with standard players.

This spring, Samsung will also introduce its own Mini-DVD player.

About 100 mini-DVD titles will be available at rollout, including movies, TV shows and sports titles. WHV's slate will include "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" and the Fox program "The OC," plus sports titles from the NBA and NHL.

Other major titles include New Line's "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery" and "The Wedding Singer," Paramount's "Mean Girls" and TV release "SpongeBob SquarePants," projects from Fox franchises "Strawberry Shortcake" and "Garfield," and Universal's "Bring It On" and "The Fast and the Furious."
