Panos Theofanellis has been appointed GM of the Greek branch of the IFPI and president of the national record producers' collection society Grammo.

Panos Theofanellis has been appointed GM of the Greek branch of the IFPI and president of the national record producers' collection society Grammo.

At the IFPI, he replaces Ion Stamboulis, who exited the trade body in July to pursue other music-related interests.

Panos Maravelias, managing director of independent Greek label Lyra, remains chairman of the Athens-based IFPI affiliate.

Theofanellis is responsible for implementing the trade body's strategies on a local level. A veteran of Warner Music Greece, Theofanellis was managing director of the company until September 2004. Gerasimos Mariatos, former financial director at Virgin Greece, replaced Theofanellis at Warner Music.a

IFPI Greece is preparing a nationwide anti-piracy campaign ahead of this year's Arion music awards in March.
