Dimensional Associates is launching a mobile entertainment unit to complement its music publishing assets and other digital distribution businesses.

The division, Dimensional Mobile Entertainment, will be headed by David Pakman, COO of sister company eMusic. It will push exploitation of the former DreamWorks Publishing catalog, now Dimensional Music Publishing, in the mono- and polyphonic ringtones market, as well as in the burgeoning master ringtones market.

DME also will introduce a subscription service called eMusic Mobile that will offer a mix of ringtones and full-song delivery for phones, in addition to downloadable tracks via eMusic online.

In other news, Dimensional asset the Orchard is making portions of its catalog available for distribution as master ringtones and ringbacks.

The company has inked new deals with eight mobile entertainment companies: Sprint, Dwango Wireless, Zingy, 9 Squared, HIFI Ringtones, IAM Mobile, Securycast and Hudson Soft.

Among the artists available at launch are Coldplay, Green Day, Beck, Keane, the Donnas, Astor Piazzolla, Ravi Shankar and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
