Weekly show to showcase Latin charts.
"Billboard Latino," a weekly one-hour entertainment magazine show, will premiere Feb. 5 on the Azteca America television network. The program, which will air Saturdays at 9 p.m. ET, is co-produced by the broadcaster, Billboard magazine and 13th Floor Television.
"Billboard Latino" will showcase the magazine's Latin music charts (including Top Latin Albums, Hot Latin Tracks, Latin Pop Airplay, Tropical Airplay and Regional Mexican Airplay), artists and news. Live performances and interviews will be part of the mix.
"This weekly show dramatically increases our reach and influence in one of the fastest growing markets and we can't wait to get started," Billboard president and publisher John Kilcullen says.
"There is no doubt that music is key for our audience, and the Billboard brand has a strong tradition," Azteca America COO Jorge Jaidar adds. "This will be a great complement to our 'La Academia' musical reality series and our promotional concerts. This is just another example of how our creativity and flexibility is rapidly positioning us as a top network in the Hispanic market."
Azteca America is available on cable television in 38 markets, including Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Houston, Chicago and Dallas. The 24-hour network features telenovelas and other entertainment programming, news and sports.
Beyond its charts, Billboard has long had a strong presence in the Latin community through editorial coverage and the Billboard Latin Music Conference and awards show, held annually in Miami.
