Subscribers doubled during '04.
RealNetworks says its music subscription services and download store generated $21.6 million in revenue during the fourth quarter. This represents a 172% increase over its digital music revenues for the same period of 2003 and a $2.8 million increase over music revenues for the previous quarter.
The company now claims more than 700,000 users of its Rhapsody and Radio Pass subscription services -- double the number of music subscribers at the end of 2003.
Total fourth-quarter revenues increased 34% to $72.5 million, up from $54.1 million in the fourth quarter of 2003. Real's net loss for the quarter was $1 million, or a penny per share, compared to a net loss of $5.3 million, or three cents in the fourth quarter of 2003.
