The Scissor Sisters are confirmed as the first headliner for Britain's popular V Festival, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.

The N.Y.-based dance-rock act will perform Aug. 20 at the main stage of the Weston Park, Chelmsford, venue, and the following day at Hylands Park, Staffordshire.

"In the coming weeks we plan to unveil a phenomenal joint headline act, who, with the Scissor Sisters, will make it one of our best lineups yet," festival director Bob Angus says.

Scissor Sisters, signed to Polydor U.K., have gathered a sizeable U.K. fanbase thanks to well-received performances on the summer festival circuit last year. Their eponymous debut album was the territory's top-seller last year, according to the Official U.K. Charts Co., and has gone six-times platinum (1.8 million units). After 53 weeks on the U.K. chart, "Scissor Sisters" is currently No. 5.

The band is shortlisted for best international group, best international newcomer and best international album at tomorrow night's Brit Awards.

Richard Branson launched the V Festival in 1996 as an extension to his international Virgin brand. Virgin Mobile will be the chief branded sponsor of this year's event.
