Rick Rubin is moving his American Recordings label to Warner Music Group, a source confirms.

The label, which is currently distributed by Universal Music Group's Island Def Jam, will be housed under the Warner Bros. Records umbrella.

American -- home to Johnny Cash, Noise Ratchet and Palo Alto -- has been with UMG since 2002. The label was previously distributed through Sony.

Neither WMG nor UMG would comment.
