Gary R. Greenstein has been named general counsel of digital performing rights body SoundExchange in Washington, D.C. He was most recently VP of business and legal affairs for the RIAA, where he handled statutory licensing matters for the recording industry.

From 1996 to 2001, Greenstein was an associate in the D.C. office of Arnold & Porter, where he represented Major League Baseball on numerous matters before the U.S. Copyright Office, with a focus on satellite and cable statutory licensing matters. He also counseled music industry clients, specializing in licensing matters for the use of sound recordings through new digital media.

"Gary brings extensive experience to SoundExchange's executive team," COO Barrie Kessler says. "We've relied on his counsel in past proceedings and negotiations and are thrilled to bring his talent and dedication in-house."
