R.E.M. today (Fe. 22) cancelled a second concert on their U.K. tour because their bassist Mike Mills has the flu.

A statement on the group's Web site said they were not sure how the rest of the week's schedule would be affected.

R.E.M. had cancelled a gig in Sheffield Monday night due to Mills' illness before calling off Tuesday night's performance in Glasgow.

"Mike has been receiving medical care in Sheffield and is resting," the statement said. "As to how this affects the shows scheduled for the remainder of the week and beyond, the band is taking it day-to-day based on the advice of Mike's doctors."

The Sheffield concert has been rescheduled for June 15 and the group will set a new date for Glasgow.

They were due to play in Birmingham Wednesday, Belfast on Friday and Dublin over the weekend.
