NEW YORK (The Hollywood Reporter) -- Liberty Media-controlled DMX Music, a provider of digital music and visual programming to homes, businesses and airlines, said Feb. 14 that its U.S. operations have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and that it has agreed to be acquired by investment firm THP Capstar.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Los Angeles-based DMX supplies commercial-free music via cable and satellite to more than 11 million homes and 180,000 businesses, including retailers Macy's and the Limited. It also supplies 30 airlines with music and videos. The firm's worldwide daily listening audience totals more than 100 million.
