Look for longtime Capitol Nashville executive VP of promotion Bill Catino to join Universal Music Group Nashville with the expected title of senior VP of promotion and artist development. He will replace Scott Borchetta, who was ousted on March 5.

While UMGN has yet to confirm the appointment, Capitol Nashville president and CEO Mike Dungan issued a statement late Monday (March 7) saying how much he would miss Catino following his move to "the Evil Empire."

Catino will oversee promotion efforts for the DreamWorks, MCA Nashville and Mercury labels, whose combined rosters include such artists as Toby Keith, Shania Twain, Reba McEntire, George Strait, Vince Gill, Trisha Yearwood and Lee Ann Womack.

The move marks a return for Catino to the Universal family, as he had previously served as a regional promoter and later held senior positions at MCA Nashville and subsequently, at short-lived sister label Universal, in the '80s. He followed then label head Jimmy Bowen to Capitol in the early '90s.

In his statement, Dungan said, "Bill Catino has been an instrumental component in all of the success attributed to Capitol Records over the last 15 years, and he has continued to be key during this label's resurgence over the last four years."
