LOS ANGELES -- Virgin Electronics, a manufacturer of portable digital music players, is shutting down all operations and product lines.

San Jose, Calif.-based Virgin Electronics manufactures several models of digital music players, including 128 MB and 256 MB flash-based devices and a 5 GB model introduced as a competitor to the iPod Mini. The company also makes a mini speaker system for its players.

No timeline was given for the shutdown process.
