Capitol Records has signed country legend Kenny Rogers to a long-term, worldwide deal. Rogers most recently recorded for his own Nashville-based label, Dreamcatcher Records; the status of that label is unclear. Rogers continues to be represented by the company's management arm, Dreamcatcher Artist Management, and by the William Morris Agency for booking.

While Capitol is positioning the move as a return to the fold for Rogers, he was never previously signed to that label, although most of his biggest hits were released on EMI-affiliated imprints such as United Artists and Liberty. Capitol has also served as a reissue imprint for Rogers' EMI-owned titles, including the best-of packages "A&E Biography: Kenny Rogers" in 1999 and "42 Ultimate Hits" last year. Rogers has also recorded for Reprise, Atlantic, RCA and indie labels Carlton, Jolly Rogers and Magnatone.

In a prepared statement, Rogers says, "The fact that I'm with a label [that] truly believes that I have a future in contemporary radio is what makes this exciting."
