Programming vet named exec VP/GM.
Brian Philips has been promoted to executive VP/GM of CMT: Country Music Television. He previously served as senior VP/GM. Philips handles day-to-day management of the network, including programming, production, talent relations, marketing and promotional strategies.
Philips joined CMT in 2001 after a long and successful career in radio programming, most recently at country KPLX (the Wolf) Dallas. Under his guidance, CMT's distribution has grown from 39 million U.S. homes to more than 77 million, according to the network.
Philips continues to report to Van Toffler, president of MTV Networks' music/logo/films group.
