Eric Nicks has joined Universal Motown Records Group as senior VP of A&R.

Eric Nicks has joined Universal Motown Records Group as senior VP of A&R.

Nicks was most recently senior VP of A&R at Columbia Records. He began his career at Violator Management, working with LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes, Noriega and Foxy Brown. He has also worked in A&R at Def Jam.

In his new role, based in New York, he reports to Universal Motown executive VP of A&R Samuel "Tone" Barnes.

"I've known Eric for many years, and he is the ultimate hip-hop executive, as well as a trusted friend and colleague," Barnes says. "Eric's keen instincts, coupled with his amazing gift for assessing talent and ability to navigate the constantly changing complexities of the urban music landscape make him a natural for this position."
