Show to air live on Aug. 28.

MTV unveiled today (April 5) its plan to return to Miami for this year's MTV Video Music Awards. The show will air live from the American Airlines Arena on Aug. 28.

This is the second year in a row that the awards will be held in Miami. Last year was the first time in the show's 21-year history that it aired from a city other than Los Angeles or New York. According to MTV, the 2004 edition was the year's most-watched telecast on cable among viewers 12-34.

Dave Sirulnick and Salli Frattini will again be the event's executive producers.
