Armando Moreno, founder and president of the International Federation of Festival Organizations, died Monday (April 4) in Los Angeles of a heart attack. He was 84.

Armando Moreno, founder and president of the International Federation of Festival Organizations, died Monday (April 4) in Los Angeles of a heart attack. He was 84.

Moreno had devoted the past 39 years to running California-based FIDOF, which has been the leading body for organizers of music and song festivals since the late '60s.

Moreno was highly regarded as a humanitarian, who actively promoted the non-profit organization's motto of "peace and friendship through music and arts."

Until last year, Moreno had attended every MIDEM trade fair since its inception in 1967.
