HAMBURG -- Sony BMG Music Entertainment Germany on April 7 revealed its new catalog marketing structure, based in Munich. The division incorporates Sony Music's former special-marketing unit, which was based in Berlin, and BMG's catalog marketing unit, which was in Munich.

The new 12-person team is headed by Ralf Schalck, senior VP of catalog marketing. Schalck was previously director of catalog and concept marketing at Sony Music.

The restructured branch will have two arms: catalog concepts and artist concepts. The former handles the marketing of original catalog CDs and DVDs. The latter develops and markets compilations and series in the budget and mid-price categories, as well as special products.

Former BMG senior director of catalog marketing Clemens Fiedler becomes senior director of catalog concepts. Former Sony senior manager of concept marketing Christian Rauch has been appointed director of artist concepts.

"With the substantially enlarged repertoire base, we will not only extend our market leadership with established catalog brands such as 'nice price' but also develop new marketing platforms and series concepts for further genres and target groups," Schalck says.
