Hjelmtorp to replace Lundblad in June.
Anders Hjelmtorp has been appointed executive director of Export Music Sweden, effective June 29. He will replace Christer Lundblad, who is joining Swedish distribution company CDA as executive director after five years at ExMS.
Hjelmtorp has 30 years of experience of the music business. In 2000, he co-founded and worked as senior VP at digital distribution firm Musicbrigade. He will remain on the board of directors of Musicbrigade but will relinquish all operational functions.
He started as product manager at CBS Records in 1978 and in 1983 he founded and became CEO of Virgin Records Scandinavia. From 1992-2000, he was CEO of Virgin Records Sweden.
Export Music Sweden chairman of the board Roland Sandberg says ExMS "is now well established as a service organization for the Swedish music business in export issues."
Sandberg, who is also executive director of the Swedish Music Information Center, adds that Hjelmtorp's madate is to continue to develop and increase the export of Swedish music. "He will bring a whole new expertise to the organization, especially in the area of digital distribution," Sandberg says.
ExMS was created 12 years ago by Sandberg and former music executive Jonas Sjšstršm. It is financed by various Swedish music organizations and operates with a yearly budget of about €100,000 ($130,000).
