EMI Music Publishing U.K. has appointed Guy Moot as managing director, the London-based affiliate of the publishing giant said today (April 27).
Moot, who is currently executive VP, A&R, U.K. & Europe, will succeed outgoing chairman/CEO Peter Reichardt. As previously reported, Reichardt departs at the end of May after 16 years at the helm.
During his time with EMI Publishing, Moot has signed Eminem, Scissor Sisters, Sean Paul, Jamie Cullum, Ms Dynamite, Amy Winehouse, Prodigy, Jamiroquai and Kasabian, among others.
"Guy is an extraordinarily talented executive whose track record in the business is astonishing," comments Martin Bandier, chairman/CEO of EMI Music Publishing.
On his goals going forward, Moot says A&R will remain a central cog to the company's business. "We're still about new repertoire, signing the best groups and looking after the people we've got as best as we can," Moot tells Billboard.biz. "The other side of it is to diversify the way in which we make our money, looking at new ways we can make money, how we present our songs and to who. I think it's an incredibly exciting time for the business.”
Moot joined the company in 1987 as A&R manager for SBK, which was purchased by EMI two years later. Prior to that, he held various A&R roles at ATV Music and Chrysalis Records.
In his new post, Moot reports to EMI Music Publishing Worldwide president/COO Roger Faxon.
