Cards distributed through promotions, websites, live shows.

eMusic is launching a new initiative that allows artists to distribute their music via download cards at no cost to the consumer.

Artists participating and their labels will distribute the cards through their websites, at live performances and other promotional avenues.

Recipients of the card are able to download an artist's album and up to 50 songs total if they sign up for a free trial of the eMusic service.

Whether the consumer remains a member of eMusic or not, the songs are theirs to keep and do not expire.

Among the artists launching the program: Chuck D (of Public Enemy), Bob Weir (of the Grateful Dead), Mojo Nixon, RUFIO, Assembly of Dust, Otis Taylor and Kan’nal.
