Thelen Reid & Priest has selected Michael Elkin in New York was as the firm's new vice chair. His selection follows that of Stephen O'Neal to chair the firm.


Thelen Reid & Priest has selected Michael Elkin in New York was as the firm's new vice chair. His selection follows that of Stephen O'Neal to chair the firm.

Elkin succeeds Mark Weitzel, who served as vice chair for two years.

Elkin has been a member of the firm's Partnership Council for seven years. He will remain chair of the firm's national commercial litigation practice and chair of the national entertainment practice.

The firm reports that during the past two years, it enjoyed record financial performance. Its revenue increased nearly 15% to $240 million. Revenue per lawyer increased more than 10% to $580,000, and net income per
equity partner increased more than 15% to $590,000.

Elkin's litigation practice concentrates on the resolution of complex commercial disputes, with an emphasis on intellectual property issues. He also advises the firm's entertainment clients on capital markets transactions and licensing of intellectual property.

The firm also announced a reorganization of its management structure with members of the executive committee taking over practice and operational responsibilities.

Tom Hill in Los Angeles will become managing partner of operations for the West Coast; Andy Ness in Washington, D.C. will become managing partner of operations for the East Coast; David Graybeal in New York will become managing partner of the business practice; and Michael Elkin will become managing partner of the litigation practice.
