Clear Channel Entertainment unveiled today (May 5) the formation of a new division called Clear Channel Entertainment Productions. Former CCE head of theatrical Scott Zeiger will head the new arm, guiding the development of new content with a focus on fixed attractions and touring entertainment events.

CCEP will develop a new version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Phantom of the Opera," which will open later this spring as a permanent show at the Venetian Resort Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The division also plans to develop programming and operate new showrooms and theaters at Las Vegas' new Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino.

Zeiger will also further the company's relationship with Cirque du Soleil by helping launch the first arena concert tour of the performing arts group in Jan. 2006.

Other CCEP projects will include involvement with Blue Man Group's permanent show opening at Toronto's new Panasonic Theatre next month. The division will also explore ancillary opportunities in CCEP project-based areas of film, TV and DVD.

Zeiger, whose official new title is chairman/CEO of CCEP, has produced more than 50 Broadway shows as head of CCE Theatrical, and oversaw CCE's 20 owned-and-operated theatres.

Zeiger's full staff will be announced soon. The division will be located in CCE's New York offices.
