UMG, WMG have licensed music.

Canada's largest wireless operator, Rogers Wireless, became the first carrier in North America to offer full-song, wireless music downloads to their mobile phones with the introduction of its Rogers MusicStore service.

At launch, only Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group have licensed music for the service. Songs purchased via the MusicStore can be downloaded to both the customer's wireless phone and home computer simultaneously.

The service is powered by Melodeo, which will provide the full music store interface and song delivery functionality. Rogers is Melodeo's first North American customer.

"This will change the way that we experience music," says Graham Henderson, president of the Canadian Recording Industry Association. In addition, Rogers launched its RealTrax master ringtone service, with music licensed from EMI Music group, as well as Warner and Universal.
