British music industry veteran Rupert Perry has joined the advisory board of Canadian media distributor Musicrypt.

During a distinguished career with EMI which spanned three decades, Perry held the posts as president/chairman of EMI Europe and senior VP of EMI Recorded Music. He exited the U.K.-based major in 2002 after 32 years' service, making him the long-serving senior executive at the company.

Musicrypt president/CEO John Heaven comments, "(Perry's) knowledge and reputation throughout the global music community will be a valuable resource as we expand internationally."

Musicrypt last year entered an exclusive partnership with Billboard Radio Monitor to market and promote its Digital Media Distribution System in America. Clear Channel Radio in the United States is endorsing the digital music distribution technology.

"Musicrypt is definitely the leader in the secure digital delivery field for the music industry," Perry comments.

During his time at EMI, Perry worked with artists as diverse as David Bowie, Tina Turner, Iron Maiden, and Radiohead. He was chairman of U.K. labels body the British Phonographic Industry from 1993-1995. In 1997, Queen Elizabeth II awarded him the title of Commander (of the Order) of the British Empire for his contribution to the British music industry. He was chairman of the regional board of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry from 2000-2002.

Perry is now a consultant and serves on various executive boards.
