Finnish prime minister Matti Vanhanen was among the guests Saturday night (May 14) at a concert in Tokyo showcasing rock acts from Finland.

The show was one of the central pegs to the May 12-15 "Finnish Music Days" trade event, which was established to help break more Finnish acts in Japan.

Organized by Music Export Finland and Finnish Music Information Center in co-operation with local promoter CreativeMan, the three-day program featured a series of showcase concerts and meetings between Finnish delegates and Japanese music professionals.

Delegates from more than 20 Finnish companies took part, including representatives from EMI Finland, Universal-owned Spinefarm Records, Warner/Chappell Music Finland, Warner Music Finland and Poplandia Music.

Established in December 2002, Musex Finland's remit is to initiate and facilitate the marketing, promotion and sales of Finnish popular music abroad.
