EMI Music Publishing U.K. has promoted William Booth to the new post of executive VP/GM, with effect from June 1.

Booth's appointment comes on the heels of a management reshuffle at the publishing giant's London affiliate, which last month saw Guy Moot appointed to take the reins from long-time chairman Peter Reichardt.

"William is not just the glue to our creative process but he is also one of the safest pair of hands in the business," says Moot, to whom Booth reports. “He is experienced and well-connected and we share a vision for the company moving forward."

A qualified solicitor, Booth has an extensive career in music publishing. During the '90s, he had stints as managing director of Sony Music Publishing in London, and senior VP, Europe for Sony/ATV Music Publishing.

He joined EMI Music Publishing U.K. in September 2003 and was senior VP/head of business development until recently.

Booth has also served as a director on the board of the Mechanical-Copyright Protection Society, the Performing Right Society and the Music Publishers' Assn.
