Written by group members Brad Arnold, Todd Harrell, Chris Henderson and Matt Roberts, "Here Without You" earned the most featured broadcast performances during the Oct. 1, 2003 to Sept. 30, 2004 eligibility period.

Lil Jon went home with the songwriter of the year distinction for writing four of the 50 most-performed songs. The rapper won for Youngbloodz's "Damn!" - on which he is also a featured artist - Petey Pablo's "Freak-A-Leek," Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz's "Get Low" featuring the Ying Yang Twins and Usher's "Yeah!" - which also features the songwriter and Ludacris.

Twelve-time Grammy Award winner Paul Simon was the recipient of this year's BMI Icon award. The artist has won 39 BMI awards from his songwriting catalog and, in addition to last year's honoree Brian Wilson, joins past winners including Chuck Berry, James Brown, Isaac Hayes, Carlos Santana and Loretta Lynn.

After taking home publisher of the year honors during Monday's (May 16) ASCAP Pop Awards, EMI Music Publishing was also named BMI's publisher of the year with 11 award songs.

Earning three awards each were Nickelback's Chad Kroeger and Sham. Other winners included Michelle Branch, Five for Fighting, Linkin Park, Sarah McLachlan, Pete Townshend, Shania Twain, Maroon 5, Los Lonely Boys, R. Kelly, Seal, Lil' Kim, Evanescence, the White Stripes, Fountains of Wayne, Mario Winans and the Black Eyed Peas.
