Soundtrack label inks U.S. distrib. deal.

New York-based Ryko Distribution has reached an agreement with soundtrack label Commotion Records. Ryko will be the exclusive U.S. distributor for the imprint, which is run by former CBS/Sony president Walter Yetnikoff and music supervisor Tracy McKnight.

Commotion was formed in 2003, and specializes in independent film soundtracks. The label has released such soundtracks as "Hotel Rwanda," "My Architect" and "Code 46," among others. Commotion was previously with Port Washington, N.Y.-based Koch Entertainment Distribution.

Upcoming releases -- the soundtracks to "Mysterious Skin" and "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room" -- will be released May 24. Due later this year is a retrospective of Devo founder/composer Mark Mothersbaugh, who has composed music to "The Life Aquatic" and "The Royal Tenenbaums," among others.
