The ninth annual South Australian Dance Music Awards held yesterday (May 23) in Adelaide had to be abandoned after gatecrashers began a brawl and two gunshots were fired inside the venue.

The black tie event gathered about 500-600 guests to the AAMI Stadium. According to investigators, six ticket-less people forced their way past security guards and into the venue. A brawl began involving 20 people, with chairs thrown.

Three live shells and two spent cartridges were later discovered in the venue, police confirm.

No one was shot during the incident, but a guest is understood to have broken his leg. No arrests have been made.

The event was organized by 618 Records, Derringers Music and Fresh FM in association with Onion Magazine.
