Expanded role for technology veteran.
Universal Music Group has promoted Amanda Marks to executive VP of eLabs. The division is responsible for handling UMG's electronic commerce initiatives, Internet exploitation and new technology business opportunities worldwide.
"Amanda is one of the brightest and hardest working executives in the music industry today," stated eLabs president Larry Kenswil, to whom she reports. "Over the years, she has consistently proven herself as a dynamic innovator, as well as a dedicated and passionate leader. We are delighted to expand her role and acknowledge both her talents and her contributions with this well deserved promotion."
Previous to this promotion, Marks, who is based in Santa Monica, Calif., served as senior VP of the division. Prior to joining eLabs, Marks helped launch Jimmy and Doug's Farmclub.com, a subsidiary of UMG, where she served as GM responsible for its daily operations including finance, business and legal affairs, business development and human resources. Her background also includes a stint with the business and legal affairs department at Mercury Records.
