Oscar Rivera takes second.
Dominican-born Gio Williams was crowned winner of the Telemundo network's “Nuevas Voces de América” during the show's May 29 finale in Miami.
Williams competed alongside 20 finalists during the 15-week nationwide reality music show created by producer Emilio Estefan, who also acted as executive producer. With the fate of each contestant decided by voting viewers, Williams was awarded nearly half of the 400,000 votes cast during the final show,
Williams’ grand prize is a $250,000 recording contract with Universal Music Latino. Oscar Rivera of Puerto Rico and Gerardo Arturo Lopez of Eagle Pass, Texas, took second and third place respectively.
