EMI Music Publishing U.K. senior VP Mike Smith has added stripes as director of A&R.

Based in London, Smith will be charged with leading the company's A&R department. He reports to Guy Moot, managing director of the publishing giant's British division.

Smith joined EMI Music Publishing U.K. as A&R manager in 1992. During his time with the firm, he has signed a number of key writers, including Guy Chambers, the White Stripes, Blur and the Libertines. He was instrumental, alongside Moot, in signing the Scissor Sisters for publishing.

Smith's appointment completes a triumvirate of executive promotions at the firm in recent weeks. Moot was elevated to succeed Peter Reichardt, who exited as chairman of the company last week after 16 years. Separately, William Booth was appointed to the new post of executive VP/GM.
