NEW YORK -- Richard Blackstone took hold of the reins at Warner/Chappell Music on May 28, one day after an early release from his Zomba employment agreement.

This marks the beginning of his four-year contract as chairman/CEO of Warner Music Group's music publishing arm.

Blackstone succeeds Les Bider, who will stay on until June 15. He is expected to be available as a consultant after that date. Blackstone was not expected to take his new post until January.
