EMI Music South East Asia president/COO Paul Robinson is to take additional responsibility for the company's operations in India, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippines, the major said today (June 7).

All managing directors of these companies will now report to Robinson, who will also assume responsibility for the management of EMI Music South East Asia's regional office functions.

The move follows last week's announcement that Norman Cheng will assume regional responsibility for EMI's business in Japan, as chairman of EMI Music Asia. Robinson will continue to report to Cheng, and will work alongside him on the operations of the other EMI Music companies in the region.

"Paul's proven commercial experience will be invaluable to EMI as we look to develop market share in the region and take advantage of the digital growth opportunities ahead," Cheng said in a statement.

Robinson became president and COO of EMI Music South East Asia in August 2004.
