WiFi-connected devices due on market this year.
MusicNet will power a new digital music service from MusicGremlin, a New York-based developer of direct-to-device wireless music technology.
Under terms of the agreement, MusicNet will support and provide several technological and programming components for MusicGremlin’s music store -- including its library of more than 1.5 million tracks.
MusicGremlin's technology is designed to allow consumers to purchase, download and share music wirelessly through digital audio players.
The company says it is in discussions with several device manufacturers to include its technology in upcoming WiFi-connected devices. First-generation of the devices are expected on the market in the second half of this year.
MusicNet also has deals with AOL, Yahoo, Virgin, Trans World and Cdigix.
