Universal Music Group has elevated new media expert Barney Wragg from VP to senior VP of eLabs.

UMG's eLabs division oversees the group's electronic commerce initiatives, Internet exploitation and new technology business opportunities.

Based in London, Wragg reports jointly to Universal Music International CFO and executive VP Boyd Muir, and eLabs president Larry Kenswil. Wragg additionally assumes responsibility for UMI's digital content delivery group, under director Vanessa Bentley.

"It's no exaggeration to say that Barney and his team have played a central part in the successful launch of the various online music services in Europe over the past 18 months, a role that has now extended to services launching in other regions," Muir comments in a statement.

Wragg joined Universal Music in 2001 as VP, advanced technology.
