Jim Lucas has been named executive VP/GM of Sony BMG Music Entertainment Sales. Lucas, who was previously senior VP of national sales and marketing, will oversee all aspects of Sony BMG’s sales operations, including management of the branch operations, sales, field marketing and support services.

Lucas will be based at the company’s headquarters in New York and reports to Bill Frolich and Jordan Katz, co-presidents of Sony BMG Sales Enterprise. In assuming that position, Lucas replaces Bob Morelli who went over to head up sister distribution company, RED.

Lucas has been with the company for nearly 30 years, beginning his career as an inventory specialist at CBS Records, and went on to hold a number of positions of increasing responsibility including sales manager for the Boston branch office, branch manager for the North Central region and VP of Eastern Region.

Meanwhile, sources indicate that Lucas' replacement will be Barry Levine, currently VP of marketing.
