Retail veteran Wolfgang Orthmyr has been appointed VP, commercial affairs for Sony BMG Continental Europe, with effect from July 1.

Retail veteran Wolfgang Orthmyr has been appointed VP, commercial affairs for Sony BMG Continental Europe, with effect from July 1.

Orthmyr will oversee and co-ordinate sales, company pricing policies and regional campaigns. He will also be involved with multi-territory retail accounts and in diversifying the amalgamated company's product and distribution channels.

In his new role, Orthmyr will split time between Berlin and London and report to Maarten Steinkamp, president Sony BMG Continental Europe. He succeeds Christophe Waignier, who was recently named executive VP, Sony BMG France

Most recently, Orthmyr served as VP, sales at Sony BMG Germany. Before that, he held the same post for Sony Music Germany. Prior to that he spent 16 years with German retailer World Of Music, where he held a number of senior positions, including the post as managing director.

Meanwhile, Sony BMG has appointed Andre Muehlhausen to succeed Orthmyr as senior VP sales for Sony BMG in Germany. Muehlhausen was previously senior director sales & deputy head of sales. He reports to Rolf Gilbert, managing director of Sony BMG Germany.
