Sony BMG Poland director general Piotr Mackowiak split with the company yesterday (June 30), sources tell Billboard.biz. Mackowiak is believed to have been let go because of underperformance at the Warsaw-based company.

Mackowiak, who was appointed to the role on October 2004, was previously managing director at Sony Music Poland.

Sony BMG Poland declined to comment and Maarten Steinkamp, president Sony BMG Continental Europe, could not be reached.

The Polish company's finance director Kazimierz Pulacki is expected to take leadership duties on a temporary basis.

Sources say former Universal and Warner Music Poland executive Jacek Jaglowski is being lined-up as Mackowiak's successor. Jaglowski is currently product manager at Magic Records.
