Avex, Japan's biggest independent label, has licensed its repertoire to Apple Computer's iTunes Music Store.

Avex is the first Japanese record company to reach such an agreement with iTunes, the Japanese version of which is expected to be launched in August.

Users of the Japanese service will reportedly be able to download music to personal computers or portable music players for about ¥150-200 yen ($1.34-$1.78) each track.
