Sony BMG Music Entertainment Asia president Richard Denekamp has left the company, sources tell Billboard.biz. Hong Kong-based Denekamp was elevated in a management reshuffle last September to oversee Sony BMG's operations in Asia.

Prior to that, he was president, Asia, for Sony Music International. In addition to that role, Denekamp was named in January 2004 as chairman of the Asia Pacific regional board of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry.

A N.Y.-based Sony BMG spokesman confirmed Denekamp's departure. However, reasons were not given. Kelvin Wadsworth, senior VP of finance and CFO for the Asia region, will assume Denekamp's duties on an interim basis.

Denekamp is the second executive from Sony BMG's upper echelon to split with the company in recent days. As previously reported, Sony BMG Music Entertainment COO Michael Smellie is expected to exit the amalgamated music giant before the end of the year.
