The first major project for Universal's recently-formed family entertainment arm, Universal Studios Home Entertainment Family Productions, will be a new animated TV show of "The Land Before Time." The 26-episode series, which will debut on the Cartoon Network in 2007, will also be distributed on DVD after it airs.

"The Land Before Time" is well known as one of the strongest feature-length, direct-to-video franchises. The 11-title series, which debuted in 1988, has sold more than 60 million units worldwide according to Universal.

In 2007, Universal will also debut the 12th feature-length title in the series, "Land Before Time: Day of the Flyers."

All of the new projects will be supported by a worldwide licensing program headed by the studio's consumer products group.
